All About The Buddhas

We had some trouble getting the internet up and running while in Leshan, Sichuan Province. But once that was resolved, we got to speak with the parents back in the States while getting some translations of what our relatives here in Leshan were trying to say to us in their Sichuanese dialect or accent. If you've ever had trouble trying to understand English from a guy with a heavy Scottish accent, imagine something similar except with Chinese...

Basically, the last couple of days were spent seeing the lovable pandas at a research and breeding center on the outskirts of Chengdu. Then, seeing the UNESCO World Heritage Grand Buddha at Leshan as well as the pleasant Thousand Buddha Cliffs.

We also got to try some real Sichuanese cuisines here (though some might be even more local to Leshan) and experienced for ourselves how hot hot can get - i.e. tongue-numbingly hot.

Tomorrow, we're headed to Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong in the north of the Sichuan Province. There, we'll resume our waterfalling and our reverence for Nature in the process...
