The Yellow Fruit Tree Surprise

When we set out on our journey to go from Guiyang to the main attraction of the region - the Huangguoshu (Yellow Fruit Tree) Waterfall - we had expected low waterflow especially in light of what we saw at the Detian Waterfall (on the China/Vietnam border further south in the Guangxi Province about 4 hours west of Nanning).

But we were pleasantly surprised in so many ways on that day of touring from an unexpected waterfall in the Longgong (Dragon Palace) Caves to the eye-catching beauty of the Huangguoshu Waterfall itself.

The hits kept coming on the next day as we saw the wide and more peaceful Duopotang Waterfall and then a visit to the charming ancient town of Qingyan near the urban chaos of Guiyang.

Indeed, sometimes you come in with expectations and the opposite happens (both in a disappointing sense as well as the pleasant surprise sense).

We're hoping the momentum continues as we embark on the next leg of the journey into the earthquake-recovering Sichuan Province (my Grandma's home province) tomorrow...
