Finally Some Good Weather!

After suffering through some rather extensive unseasonably cold, icy, and wet September weather, we finally had some days where it was more sunny than cloudy. That started yesterday afternoon after the day started off in similarly dreary and cloudy fashion. And during that day, we finally got to see Peyto Lake, Lake Louise, and Moraine Lake the way we were supposed to have seen them!

Today, the good weather momentum continued as the day was mostly sunny (after battling through some morning fog) and we managed to make another run at Peyto Lake before seeing the Athabasca Glacier as well as Lake Maligne and Spirit Island. We did have to prioritize our sightseeing by skipping several of the waterfalls we were supposed to be seeing along the Icefields Parkway, but we did manage to see Sunwapta Falls and Athabasca Falls.

But all good things must come to an end, and the forecast for the next two days at least will be pretty wet and cold. We'll have to see how our waterfalling will turn out as we're heading out of the Jasper area to see Helmcken Falls as well as a couple other waterfalls in the Wells Gray Provincial Park before returning to the National Parks the following day. Hopefully, the timing is just right as we make our return to the area after the storm has passed...
