Not all of them are protected and/or for public use.<br /><br />Sometimes drainages feeding waterfalls are wrested away from public use as well even though the falls itself may be on public land. As a photographer and Web site owner, I make my living hiking to numerous falls in northeast Georgia, Upstate South Carolina and western North Carolina. After a record year of rainfall in the area, waterfalls in this area are spectacular. But when rainfall was so low that most waterfalls were a trickle, I was attempting to document what had happened to a 100-foot waterfall when a group of teens from a Florida school rushed past me and climbed up the exposed rocks. It was unfortunate that they lacked the knowledge of the danger from a fall and the potential destruction of fragile ecology. If there&#39;s a message here, it&#39;s to respect waterfalls. Enjoy the view. Take pictures. The waterfall, which is 210 feet (64 m) high gets its name from the smoky dew drops spray, (Dun in sinhala means mist or smoke) which surrounds the area at the foot of the waterfall. The water fall is created by the river called Badulu Oya which goes through the Badulla town.<br /><br />To reach the water fall you have to walk more than 1 km distance along a foot path. Along this foot path you can see another small waterfall at a distance. However walking along this muddy foot path is really worth as the waterfall is so beautiful. Along this foot path there are many native venders selling herbal drinks to refresh and rest yourself. At the end of the path there is a secure stage constructed for viewers to see the waterfall. In my case it was because I visited a Kurdish waterfall and took photos in 2004. I hadn&#39;t posted them anywhere partly because I was never sure where I had been (other than being told several times we were only a kilometer or two from the Iranian border, something the hikers said they didn&#39;t know!). I post on Panoramio, and found a place marked Ahmed Awaa. Among my photos I don&#39;t have any decent photos of the main waterfall, but I do have a couple I took of the little falls inside a grotto at the top.
